Physical Therapy & Rehabilitation
Canine rehabilitation and physical therapy involves utilizing hands-on practices similar to those used in humans to strengthen the musculoskeletal system, improve mobility secondary to injuries and arthritis, relieve chronic pain, weight loss, and more! The goal of the veterinarians at Four Paws Animal Hospital is to customizing physical therapy protocols that are unique to your dog. No dog is the same, therefore, every treatment should reflect the patient's individual differences.
The primary goal of therapeutic exercises, such as cavaletti rails or balancing boards, is to train the dogs to perform them on their own volition, which in turn fosters a positive experience for the patient. Rehabilitation modalities, such a cold laser therapy, therapeutic massage, manual therapy/joint mobilizations, neuromuscular electrical stimulation, therapeutic exercise and water treadmill, are the cornerstone of therapy protocols here at Four Paws Animal Hospital. We strive to maintain a positive, low-stress environment, encouraging patients to enjoy the time exercising leading to a positive experience for the patient and an eagerness to continue to perform. In addition to individually-tailored rehabilitation treatments geared to the specific patients, our hospital has two canine rehabilitation-certified veterinarians on staff to work with you and your pets. This is a rapidly growing field in veterinary medicine that provides an innovative way to improve the quality of life of beloved dogs and their humans alike. Mobility issues are one of the primary reasons that dogs are presented to veterinarians. In the past, medications were the only option that was utilized. Here at Four Paws, we believe that the power of healing hands have an integral role in ensuring that pets live their best lives. |
